Kent Science Park – the flexible hub

Kent Science Park – the flexible hub - Kent Science Park

Science parks have a unique offering for their tenants that goes beyond laboratory or office space, but rather fostering an environment for innovation. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant people are rethinking their work space and reassessing their priorities, ensuring more than ever that the place in which they base their business works for them and their needs.

Located in Sittingbourne and one of the largest in the South East, Kent Science Park is home to a growing community of businesses, with a particular focus on the agri-tech, biotech, biopharma and food science sectors. With high-specification laboratories and serviced offices of various sizes, we can accommodate start-up businesses and established organisations alike.

In this blog post, we explore the benefits which sites like Kent Science Park offer its tenants, including access to green open spaces for improved employee wellbeing and providing space which creates an environment for success.

Flexible working

No two businesses’ needs are the same, so we have built our laboratory and office space to reflect this. Our flexible laboratory solutions are equipped to suit a variety of businesses with a range of equipment and sizes range from 100 to 120,000 sq. ft. We also offer small scale manufacturing, as well as delivering ‘plug-and-play’ bio-safety level 3 manufacturing facilities.

Our flexible and all-inclusive serviced offices are suitable for a range of companies and benefit from easy-in, easy out license agreements. Similarly, our leased offices range from co-working to large scale, bespoke design and build solutions.

The park has ample room for growth, so as our tenants grow, we can find new space onsite to suit them.

Green, open spaces

Set in 65 acres of well-maintained and landscaped grounds, Kent Science Park offers green, open space both onsite and on our doorstep. Our Japanese Garden, which is located just outside the HUB, is the social centre of the park. Throughout the summer months it is a popular spot for picnics or impromptu outdoor meetings among tenants.

The surrounding rural areas also provide the perfect environment to step away from work, with many groups onsite enjoying walking and cycling in the Kent countryside come rain or shine.

Everything under one roof

The convenience of having space to meet all your business and employee needs in one place is often of vital importance. We completely understand it’s not just where you work, it’s everything around it.

Kent Science Park has an excellent parking provision not just for our tenants but their guests too, and for the eco-conscious there are electric charging point across the site. There are plenty of meeting spaces to collaborate with other tenants or visitors and discuss those all-important ideas, which could end up transforming the future of your business.

Elsewhere, the HUB Café is a great place to step away from the desk and meet for colleagues breakfast or lunch. From Monday-Friday our tenants benefit from exclusive use of gym facilities at Tonics Fitness Club. It offers affordable and discounted team memberships, as well as a schedule of fitness classes, including HIIT, Zumba Fitness and Bootcamp. This has been praised by our tenants as being great for employee wellbeing.

In an increasingly time-short world, Woodstock House Day Nursery is our answer to finding the difficult balance of work and childcare. Located in a Grade-II listed farmhouse, the nursery is a great environment for the children and ideally located for parents working onsite.

Connectivity

One of the first things on people’s lists when looking for office space is location, which is often key to their success. Kent Science Park is only a 10-minute drive from Sittingbourne and 15 minutes from Junction 5 of the M2.

Located close to Sittingbourne train station, tenants travelling by train can reach London St Pancras in an hour. For those wishing to reach Europe and beyond, London Gatwick is a mere 1 hour 10 minutes from the park.

Promoting collaboration

Kent Science Park prides itself on creating a supportive ecosystem for business, scientific research and manufacturing. We encourage our community of ambitious tenants to network across the park through hosting regular events.

Thanks to being part of one of the UK’s largest networks of science parks, we are able to promote collaboration beyond our site too by connecting companies and individuals with those located elsewhere in the group. The Knowledge Factory is the dedicated digital collaboration platform and app, which helps bring everyone from the six parks together.
